Here is another Croatian Thrash Metal band from the first middle of the 90s.At that time,there were an invasion of Croatian Thrash bands,some of them (especially the ones from Zagreb) succeded in being noticed widely,while the others had to work their way to the audience much harder.Amorphosa were one of them.A nice demo of a Thrash with some HC parts played a little sloppy here and there,but overall a very good demo,surely one more in the list of Croatian Metal bands.

Here is something pretty rare,even if it is not a so old demo (well,15 years are not that much,right).The band is from Rijeka,and plays a kind of mid-tempo Thrash Metal,but very fairly.The recording is not the best you heard,but if you collect Croatian Metal,this is something you will hardly find,and it is 100% worth having.

SCRAPS (Fra) - Aaargh , ep 1987

Here`s an EP I liked some 20 years ago (when I say I liked,it does not mean that I don`t like it still,it is just that I really listened to it very much back at that time.),a noisy and Thrashy French Hardcore Punk band who played from early 80 to the early 90s,and then disappeared.They did some vinyls,and among them is this EP,pretty extreme and noisy,which I recommend to all lovers of fast Thrashy HC.

EXODUS (U.S.A.) - Pleasures of the flesh , demo 1986

This is the pre-album demo,done with the first Exodus vocalist,the one and only Paul Baloff,just before he was replaced by Steve "Zetro" Souza.As I started listening to Exodus with Paul and Bonded By Blood (one of the best Speed/Thrash albums ever!),every vocalist after him i.m.o. didn`t fit so well or changed the band pretty much.So,if you wondered how would sound the second album if Paul stayed in the band,there you go..PAUL BALOFF is the king. R.I.P.

EXODUS - PLEASURES OF THE FLESH , DEMO 1986

VECTOM (Ger) - Speed revolution , lp 1985

This one was supposed for tomorrow,but after listening to it again,I can`t wait until then!!
This is an album I love in an extreme way,one of the rare vinyls I will NEVER trade or give for anything!Let me explain;it is nothing spectacular,at some points (actually,almost the complete record) is one foot into the ridicolous,but this is radical Speed Metal,very simple,naked to the bone,and as I said,almost ridicolous.But this is surely one of the top 10 Speed Metal records of all the time for me.The lyrics are some of the funniest and most demented I have ever read,and are OF COURSE about Satanism.I adore the drum sound here,especially the bass drums.This album is too good to be true,I warn you not to expect nothing spectacular,but if you are into true and primitive Speed Metal (notice;I never ever wrote Thrash Metal!!),Vectom are gods.
PS;they recorded another album,but on that they sounded like a softened version of early Helloween,so fuck it,Speed Revolution kicks fuckin asses!!!

This is a cool band I got from Vladimir.Fojbon is a HC band from Pula,they existed just few years (as far as I know) but left a deep trace in the Pula scene.This is a recording from a rehearsal,they cleverly transformed it into their demo tape.The sound is pretty good,and the music is raw,ideal for noise lovers.

RANCID HELL SPAWN (U.K.) - Jumpin` Jack flesh , lp 1989

I am sorry that I don`t have a quality pic of the cover,but..anyway,I am presenting you this amazing bizarre band lead by the editor of the now defunct Chainsaw fanzine,vocalist and bass player Charlie Chainsaw.This is a unique band,and I have to tell you how I bumped into this band:
Once (in 1989) I ordered some albums from a distro,and I had some little plus money,so I searched for a single or an EP to add.There were no interesting titles,except for this one "RANCID HELL SPAWN - FESTERING PUS ep".Now,you tell me,does it sounds to you like some Goregrind or at least Death Metal??Well,I added that EP.When arrived,everything was fine:a weird cover,strange titles..I put it on the turntable,and when it started first of all it wasn`t no Grind or Metal at all,nor even Hardcore..It was some Punk with keyboards,but what horrifies me was the sound!!I checked again the needle,the jacks of the speakers..everything was fine.But there was still some obnoxious noise.Then I realised:THE WHOLE RECORDING WAS UNDER A HEAVY DISTORTION!!It was sooooo great discovering that the band decided to do the complete record totally distorted!Just when I understood that the distortion is the main point of that record,I became very interested in those sickos.
Here now,19 years after,I bring you here a whole album of this band entitled Jumpin` Jack Flesh,containing 24 short sharp cuts.Still the same-distorted,I highly recommend you this album,which will hook you the moment you get used to the extreme distortion of the recording.
A great sick band,truly.
PS;on a webpage dedicated to the band,for this album is written;

The first LP. This must have the tinniest sound of any record ever released. The cutting engineer thought the tape was fucked. It was not, it was meant to be that way. And apparently everyone at Mordam stopped work and rushed over to the record player saying "What the fuck is this?" the first time it was put on the record player. MRR described it as a "Vinyl Abomination" - and then went on to recommend it....

We already had here the Tormentor`s first demo Blitzkrieg,and now here is their second,just before they changed the name into Kreator.The tracks are almost all from the Endless pain album,but the quality of the recording is a bit scarce (even if this copy of Tormentor`s demo is absolutely the best in quality I have heard).You can notice how they made a huge progress from this demo to the album (well,more or less;have you heard the album version of Tormentor?Just after the solo,the drums fell out of rhythm for few beats,not much,but very noticeable).Anyway,listening more to this demo,you find out that it is not that bad in quality..Obligatory for every Thrash or Kreator fan.

We already had G5 on this blog, featured with their first album. This one is a single (a perfect vinyl rip!) as a first release after their first album. Very nice and melodic Hard Rock on one side, and the usual Hard ballad on the flipside. The sound of this single reminds me how great is the vinyl sound, and how sterile is the cd sound. Nice one.

Of course,sooner or later the very first work of the masters had to find its way to this blog.A perfect recording here,no fear of some hushy sounding recording here.This demo is also featured on few compilations (it reminded me of a compilation of outtakes and rare recordings of Venom I have,I have to put it here soon),and it is a very dirty and Punky Venom,but people,it is 1980!The very beginnings of a band that will become so huge in the first part of the 80s..

I thank Vladimir for this one,ladies and gents,here is a nice rarity!The Pula`s first Punk-rock band Problemi,the only one that found it`s way to the legendary Novi Punk Val compilation,proudly representing Pula.As every rare tape found,this one have the sign of times,it is not a perfect sound,and for an unknown reason,the one who ripped the tracks from the tape was not so accurate,so some songs are cut in or cut at the end,but believe me,if you want a document of the very beginnings of Punk Rock in a communist country as Yugoslavia was,this recording worth gold.
PS;the bonus tracks here are from another recording,a more professional recording,but probably from a year or two later.

This tape was a bootleg I really loved,especially the kick-off with Arise and Largactyl.A good recording of the band`s performance at the Novi Rock festival in Ljubljana,Slovenia in 1986.
I have two more FV releases I will soon put here,Fang And Attitude.But let`s return to this bootleg.This tape is released also in 1997 as a vinyl by The Only Good Dealer Is A Dead One Records under the name MAKE SOME FUCKING NOISE,and both the tape and the vinyl on the cover have written 7 tracks,while the recording contains 8 tracks.If you are an Amebix fan,you must have this tape.If you already don`t have this bootleg,then you`re not...too late to have your copy now.
PS:The video is a video I ripped from an old video tape I have,and is a bit of Arise from this performance.The sound is low,and the video is a bit dark,but worth watching it,believe me.

I was thinking whether to put or not this disgusting cover,finally I decided to put it,because you can see stuff like that almost every day,in almost every place (Tv,newspaper..),so let`s concentrate on the music..Goregrind.Very short Ep,but very extreme and perfectly played and recorded.Croatia does`t have much of bands of this kind,so Drob are surely a great product representing a part of Croatia`s underground scene.

Yeah,Pula strikes again..well,can be said,cause this band changed the name..but,Pula is surely a goldmine of Metal bands,just listen to another example..this band should have a bigger airplay,but we are living in a pretty anti-metal country by some points of view,so bands like this are condemned to play for a smaller audience,or spend enormous amounts of money for something unsure..What is sure is that this album is great modern Thrash Metal,and if you like such style,don`t miss it!
PS:oh,yeah,the band is now SKEPSIS +.

NAILED - WORLD COLLAPSE , CD 2003

AUTOPUT (Cro) - 1980-1982

This material is a rarity,something I got from a private collection.What we have here is various recordings of an old band from the city I live in,the beautiful Varazdin.All the informations I have I collected and picked randomly from various people and I had some contradictory infos too,but I will try to put here the most common I got.
The band started with playing a kind of melodic New Wave (tracks 1-6),to pass directly to an excellent strong and bluesy Hard Rock (tracks 7-13).The main vocalist in the band was the Croatian actor LJUBOMIR KEREKES (I watched last week his last international movie,The Hunting Party,where he acts along with Richard Gere!),so this is an interesting item for those who know him and sees him in various sitcoms,movies or in theatre plays.
In the pic there`s me with Ljubo and another actress from the Varazdin`s Croatian National Theatre,the great wonderful actress Marija Krpan (she owes me a Scorpions T-shirt,but that is another story..),after the play Return Of The Warrior,in December 2006.
I hope you will enjoy this precious piece of Varazdin`s Rock N` Roll history.

GORI USSI WINNETOU (Cro) - Addio Pola , cassette 1986

Franci Blaskovic is undoubtely the most interesting character of the Croatian underground scene.Playing from the 60s in various bands,having his first recording with the weird Arinka I Tingl Tangl band,and finally going strong with his Gori Ussi Winnetou band/project since 1986 (or at least recording since 1986.).Vocalist and bass guitar player.A guy that never ever wanted to be mainstream,a guy that refuse to play live in Pula (there were the art director of the rock club Uljanik in pula that denied the gig in the club for GUW,and Franci ever since never played a show in Pula.),a guy called "the Istrian Frank Zappa",a guy that few days ago released his 50th album (??!!)(and the last 40 albums all self-released in 4-5 years!!)..I could tell you about him all day long,I know him personally,and more or less worked with him (in the club Uljanik) few years in the 90s..but let`s return to this tape.This is his cult first album as GUW,very significant for the Istrian area,a mix-up of various styles all thrown into a cabaret-style of composing,all talking about the life in Pula and all in a language that he invented,a mix-of istrian-italian-german-englishlanguage with just a little Croatian...It is not the usual stuff I put here,but it is very significant in the Croatian underground.Well,Istrian underground..
