What can be said, this is a blog where I will post some stuff I really like,so I think you should like it too.I am a metalhead to the heart, but I will put here every kind of stuff I like, not only Metal.I hope you will enjoy it,and let me know if there is anything needed, especially from the ex-Yugoslavia territory.
Cheers!
I have been searching for this a long time, and Florijan helped me out;this was a very talented and funny and interesting band from Zagreb from the first half of the 90s,I knew them,we even played few times together. The bands name is two languages, because the band`s name was written every time different, some times in Croatian, others in English. It was a powerful HeavyFunky trio, known in Croatia first of all for the extremely funny Funky version of Metallica`s "Enter sandman",of which I ripped the video down here. The first two tracks are from 1992,while the third found place on a compilation cd related to the Croatian Lunatic fanzine from 1996.I am proud to bring you (thanx Floki) these three tracks. The guitar virtuoso Kizo (real name Zoran Stojanovic) released last year his solo album Brutalizer, can`t wait to hear what he did on that.Meanwhile..
Tracks: 01.Mr. Begin` man 02.Enter sandman 03.Baloony
Allright, now something different, not an audio or video post,I bring you here the scan of an American Speed/Thrash Metal fanzine from the end of 1984.The fanzine was entitled Brain damage, and it is totally old-school designed, typewriting and handwritten logos and pentagrams and upsidedown crosses and similiar stuff to get you back in the beginnings of the most exciting Metal genre ever. The editors were Vadim Rubin (later in Halfoff and HayWire) and a certain Ron Nieto. The writer was, among others,a certain Gene Hoglan (don`t ask me where he played later,please..) and his wife Lisa draw the logo.20 pages,3,5 MB! I am sure you will be all interested in this one,you can find recensions of early Destruction,Death Angel, VoiVod,Omen,Slayer,Celtic Frost,Overkill,Dark Angel, jag Panzer,Mercyful Fate,Mantas (pre-Death),Enforcer and Znowhite, read an interview with Hirax and read how disappointed the metalheads were when Metallica`s Ride The Lightning was released (good for them they were timely soooo far from Load and Reload....)... For all the old-school lovers (like me!)!Enjoy this one,I have also the issue 2,so wait for it soon. And let me know what you think of it!!
Another contribution by Florijan.Headbanger`s legendary EP from the Pula scene of the first half of the 90s,reminds me of the progress the band had back in time, after they mutated into Super Booster (Nade and Hamer),and Rale passed to play in Gardenia.A nice EP,I tagged Heavy Metal, but as they are very much influenced by Motorhead, get this as a Fast Rock`n`Roll Heavy Metal Motorheadesque stuff..Come on,you know what I mean..Really worth a try! PS:The video down here is a video from the very beginning of Headbanger and surely does not represent what they played on this EP.
Tracks: 01.Wheels of freedom 02.Neglect 03.Out of sight
The second album of the Swiss Thrash masters was,in my opinion,a half disappointment. Not that huge,of course, but even today,21 years later,I don`t understand why they recorded the studio side with that ultra weak guitar sound..And as for the lyrics..My opinion is that the studio side should have been re-recorded.But the B-side of the album brings us some very raw LIVE recordings of Messiah, that are worth not only the whole record, but if you ask me,THEIR WHOLE DISCOGRAPHY!!Messiah live were one of the most extreme bands on the planet (back in the 80s),and these live recordings shows it.And I am repeating it again;I am lucky I had the opportunity to see them live in this line-up back in..can`t remember,`87 or `88..but I realised how good they are live. And on this album the B-side brings you Messiah live,so you can hear it yourself..As this is the CD re-re-re-release (this album was initially released on CD together with Hymn To Abramelin, but was an utterly ugly release;HTA was there without the wise words between songs, and ECW without the LIVE SIDE!!!),which includes some demos and additional live recordings..but at least ECW is complete with the great live side.Worth downloading for the live and demo stuff!
Tracks: STUDIO SIDE 01.Extreme cold weather 02.Enjoy yourself 03.Johannes Paul der letzte (Dedicated in hate to Pope John Paul II) 04.Mother Theresa (Dedicated in love to Mother Theresa) 05.Hyper borea 06.Radetzky march (We hate to be in the army now) 07.Nero LIVE SIDE 08.Hymn to Abramelin+Messiah+Space invaders 09.Thrashing madness 10.The last inferno 11.Golden dawn 12.Resurrection 13.Ole` perversus DEMO AND LIVE ADDITIONS 14.Powerthrash 15.Satan`s resurrection 16.Antichrist 17.Hymn to Abramelin 18.Messiah 19.Infernal forces 20.Future agressor+Total maniac (live)
Those girls were from Karlovac, and they played a very interesting and good HC/Punk.I found this demo very accidentally, but remained pleasantly surprised. It is a pretty long demo with an excellent sound.Until yesterday I haven`t found any info about it,but now I have it;it is recorded in 1997 (I tought it was more recent..).The band split a while after for personal reasons, but thank God this demo remained, and here it is to be spreaded even wider. Now,the next step is to wait a demo from Antitoples from Cakovec..

Heh,I finally found a recording of a record I once bought in Trieste,of a totally unknown american band, but released through Wild Rags Records,an indie metal label that has it`s peak in the last few years of the 80s.This record was a maxi 45 rpm vinyl, with these four tracks on both sides (??),a black simple cover, and an insert with the pic above and the lyrics of the songs. The band plays a fast Thrash Metal with a sound that should maybe have been a little more aggressive, but it is fair enough anyway. This is a rarity, grab it.
Tracks: 01.Wreckage+Bloodshed 02.The final solution 03.Feel my knife 04.Tear off your face
A nice rarity sent to me by Vladimir again! This is a soundboard recording of Verbal Abuse`s gig before the "V.A. Rocks Your Liver" album,an album that more than ever showed how metal and hardcore can really work together. On this recording,as you can see, they play We Will Rock You by Queen, with the original lyrics (for those who might not know, the song will have different lyrics on the mentioned album, and will be entitled,of course,V.A. Rocks Your Liver).Enjoy this one.
Tracks: 01.We will rock you 02.Metal Melissa the pissa 03.Leeches+Worth a try 04.Time to go 05.Disintegration 06.I don`t need it 07.Best friends 08.no title 09.I hate you 10.Bud
Here we go again,Bosko I Buhe from Pula were a request by few of you,and Vladimir helped me out with this, and sent me a demo and two live recordings. This is a soundboard of their performance at the Melody Festival in Pula 1992.Unfortunately,no pic and no video for them.Very funny and Punk-as-fuck.
Darkthrone at their very beginnings. This is their first demo, very raw and obscure, and of course far away (technically) from what Darkthrone became later. But,of course, always interesting. The recording is not of the best, but obviously it is the original that is recorded bad.Two more demos will follow, but let`s start off with the first one. PS:Notice that every song title contains the "OF" in the title (ie, "this OF that")!! PPS:The video is a very funny Fenriz, check it out.
Tracks; 01.Land of frost 02.Wings of Triton 03.Forest of darkness 04.Odyssey of freedom 05.Death of the dead
First of all,I am sorry I don`t have no flyer or no pic from the A&M Festival featured here (the flyer above is for the first A&M Festival from 1993,for which I can proudly say that my ex-band Hatross was the first band ever to perform at A&M Festival!!).But as I think that the sound is important, here is the official cd of the well-known Art And Music Festival, held in Pula every year since 1993,with few years of pause from 2002.-2005. This CD here is the idea the guys from the organisation had,but it was realised just that year and never more.Anyway,a great document remained, and as a direct partecipant as part of the staff of the festival for few years, and as presenter in 1997,I am proud to present you this cd. The 1994. edition of the festival brings you a wide variety of styles, all of them alternative rock (I wrote down as tag Alternative Rock,as a common tag) and all of them excellent soundboard LIVE RECORDINGS!! The recordings were taken live at the festival, with bands as The Bleeding playing Doom,Haze playing Stoner Rock,Dik O`Braz playing a Motorhead-ish tune,a great Rt Planete (featuring Zhel on guitar and vocals!!),and among other bands, extremely exciting guests of the festival as KUD Idijoti and Gori Ussi Winnetou,Strelnikoff,Laufer and Let 3. This CD is very important for me emotively, but I assure you that you will find very interesting stuff here, and you will have the document of a great happening!!Don`t miss this one. PS:Down here you have the documentary of that festival splitted in two parts,it is in Croatian from the Croatian TV,and I saw myself in few places (in the first minute of the first part, you can see me in a black Type O Negative t-shirt with Tusta from KUD Idijoti)!!
