LJUBLJANA HARD-CORE , Slovenian compilation lp 1987

This album is a jewel of the extinct ex-YU HC capital of the 80s,LJubljana,the capital town of Slovenia.5 bands are represented on this compilation,of which my favourites are the female trio TOZIBABE with a pretty harsh HC,and especially EPIDEMIJA,a total Disorder-esque Thrash chaos.As I didn`t ripped this one,I warn you that it have a variable sound quality,it seems like it was ripped partly from tape,and partly from vinyl.Anyway,for the collectors,and especially for HC fans,you will not miss this one!

This great band is one of the few really great Grindcore bands new to the Croatian scene,and I hope that this one will not be the only stuff we`ll hear from them.One of the bands that will very soon play on the Varazdin`s GRIND YOUR MIND festival (postponed the first time,now already announced for "very soon"..let`s see..).Well,anyway,this cd by 40 Gradi fucking kills,I`d compare them most closely to Brutal Truth!Totally insane technical grinding!

Heheheeh..what can I say,those guys knew how to have great fun at their gigs..the bad thing is that everything is in Croatian,so anyone out of the ex-Yu territories might loose that feeling,but..hey,it is not that bad musically!Lizatori Pizdere (translated from a Pula-slang it means Pussy Lickers) are a side project-along with Brijacina Kojona-of members of Desinence Mortification).There is much in common to Leukkemiaa and Lizatori Pizdere ,except that LP had rehearsals,so they sounded better live.I laugh my jaws off every time I hear this gig.Try if you dare.

PIGGY`S home jam tapes (CAN)

It is incredible and very sad the fact that in the last 5 years so many Metal musicians died..and mostly of some diseases or heart failures..Piggy (the guitarist of Voivod,just in case some of you don`t know) was one of them,we knew for a long time back about his cancer,but it killed him slowly.
The stuff here is given to me by Rio of Bolesno Grinje,he found it somehow on the net,and it`s a collection of untitled bits (well,not really,the tracks are pretty long..) Piggy made on his computer before he died.I do not even know the possible date of those recordings,very surely after the year 2000.So,this post is dedicated to everything Piggy did through his life.

I AM BACK!!!

HELLO TO YOU ALL!!!
Oh,yeah,I am back!!The vacation is over,I start to work next Monday,so I have few days to fill this days that passed sunbathing,swimming in the sea,headbanging at Uljanik and singing my guts out on the rehearsal of the Pula`s cover band VIS Thunderbirds.And not forgetting the beautiful dinner with my wife,my brother,his wife and their lovely daughters,Sarah and Noah.But on top of everything,the extraordinary dinner at my friends Cotka (if you noticed,he was the engineer and producer of many bands here,like ; Hatross,Sexton,Dissection/Aeon,Desinence Mortification,Anti Otpad,AntiTodor i Talenti...well,almost the complete Pula scene from the 90s!),who prepared an incredible fish plate,followed by tasty white wine..Oh,well..sorry,I went too far in explaining.So,the main happening there was the PULA ROCK party,dedicated to the underground scene of the 70s-80s-90s,for which a documentary movie (actually,there will be two movies!) is getting ready to hit the road.This party was a warming up,the main happening will be somewhere in the summer 2008.This party summoned all of us metalheads,punx and anyone ever involved in the Pula underground.The meeting was pretty emotive,there were dozens of people I haven`t seen for 10 years..Here are some pics;The action that night was..you know..you see..well known.

Another great thing I was part of was the rehearsal of a Pula cover band VIS Thunderbirds.As my brother Chriss plays drums there,I went to a rehearsal with him,and inevitabely became part of that rehearsal;first I played bass on some covers while Tea was away,and then they gave me the mike and the thing rolled on..

On those two pics,we did HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN by SEX PISTOLS..woooow,goosebumps coming!!

And at the end,we did the inevitable;half of LEUKKEMIAA pictured together again!!Pizzo even put a plastic bag as on the very first gig..and me and Tezza dying out laughing..

The last day before leaving,Cotka made a farewell dinner..I adore eating,and this one was a suicide..I am not a fish fan,but I ate 3 of those!!Tell me now you wouldn`t too..........................


OK,enough of that..back to business.The usual guys there (Mladen and Zlayo) gave me a ton of material in Pula,stuff you will lick your fingers for (STOP STARING AT THOSE FISHES,I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THEM!!).I will not tell you nothing about,you will have to stay tuned to this magnificent blog.And I am sure you will...

BIJELO DUGME (BiH) - Eto!Bas hocu! , lp 1977

Finally,here it is;the third BD album,with which I end this trilogy.The third album is recorded under bad conditions,because 3/5ths of the band were serving the fucking military service,so it was recorded with two additional musicians (Lazo Ristovski on keyboards and Milic Vukasinovic on drums,and Zeljko Bebek playing bass on this album).The album is the most raffinated of the trilogy,but still a great Hard Rock album.Just listen to the choirs and the orchestrations on the last song..Great.

CUORENERO (Ita) - Solo un piccolo passo , demo 2007

Heh,this is a personal one;this is my cousin`s Andrea band from Firenze,Italy.This demo is a nice and well produced piece of Alternative easy listening Hard Rock.I am very proud of it,because after my father,me and my brother,somebody in the family must continue our rocking tradition.As you can see from the cover,Andrea did all the music and lyrics,plus sang lead and backing vocals,played bass,rhythm and some leads,plus acoustic guitar..pretty much his own work.I like it.

CRUCIFIX (USA) - Dehumanization , lp 1983

If you like Discharge,then you must try this band.With a Cambodian singer,Sothira Pheng,the band played a Discharge-like Hardcore,really extreme and fast (for that time).This is,as far as I know,their only album,short and intense.The band existed for a relatively short time,but this album is a true masterpiece.

Blockade Runner reformed in 2007!!Allright,this is the news for the fans of this band,thank God,they reformed again (the new line up will have two members of the original line-up,Hari and Tomo,the last guy on this pic with me,on the party in Pula 7.9.07.),and if everything goes as planned,a great Devastation/Blockade Runner package will be available for gigs very soon (maybe a split cd?who knows).Blockade Runner will record new stuff soon,and Tomo promised me that I will recieve it to put it here on this blog!!Can`t wait for that.In the meantime,here is a compilation of BR`s demo tracks,plus few tracks re-done for this compilation.BR RULES!

LEUKKEMIAA feat. TAJCI (Cro) - Uljanik , Pula , 24.12.1994.

Huh,what can I say..we had a reminder on the party in Pula about this one..it was fucking insane.We were the (unwanted) support band,to the KUD Idijoti`s traditional Christmas show.Tending to go to the max this time,we decided that we will do a show and announce it as a show with TAJCI (the Croatian teen star who sang probably the best Eurovision song ever,Hajde da ludujemo,in 1990),and so we dressed Pizzo as Tajci.Plus,we put posters of Tajci all over the town..there were more than a thousand people at that show,and for the first few minutes,the people watching us truly believed that there is Tajci herself!!!To cut the long story short,this gig was an incredible blast,the crowd laughed their asses off..This is a VHS-rip,so the sound is pretty extremely loud..

Here is the second cd by father Anto Bobas and his band.And again,a very nice Christian Rock album,and this one is done even better,with a great production.And this album lyrically have few songs with war topic,as the father Bobas and his brother Jadranko (in the band too) escaped the war horrors in Bosnia in the beginning of the 90s.So,for all the soft rock lovers,this is another cool father Bobas recording..

Here is another TON bootleg,recorded on the same tour as the previous one,and-if I am not wrong-on the last show of the tour,in the Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg,October 16th 1994.This one is not a soundboard recording,but still a very decent one,and a must for the TON fans,of course.I am tied to this one in a special way,because this recording was made approx.24 hours after I met Peter Steele in Munchen,which was my dream in those days..

Hard Rock made in Serbia..This band is pretty hard to find on mp3 and various formats,but,well,I did my best and there you go;an album of Yugoslav melodic Hard Rock from the beginning of the 80`s.I never followed this band,they had some major hits (like Mezimac on this album),so I think it is worth for all the collectors..Enjoy.

I am really sorry I don`t have any pic for this recording,but I have to ask Rio if he can give me some vintage Dissection pics..Awright,this is the second Dissection demo,I guess this is the one just before they turned into AEON..Almost all tracks are contained in the first AEON demo,so..well,this is another fine product of those Death Metal virtuosos from Pula,obviously still a part of their beginnings,but a very good recording (of course,EAR studio from Stinjan) and very good stuff in here!!It is Pula,got it?

DISSECTION - AFTERLIFE , DEMO 12/1993

I am leaving for Pula,on the 1st September!!The blog will have a pause!

So,dear friends,I don`t know if I`ll have any free time to salute you,so I am announcing that this blog will stop for some 13 days (from more or less 31st August till 12th September) .Of course,just for those 13 days,when I`ll enjoy the city of PULA,sea,sleep,friends,resting and mental calm.Oh yeah,and the beautiful PULA ROCK party on 7th September

ATOMSKO SKLONISTE (Cro) - Ne cvikaj,generacijo , lp 1977

Another band from Pula,and another band very important for the Hard Rock scene in the ex-YU.Atomsko Skloniste were the "hardest" of all Hard Rock bands,and until 1986 (when the singer Serdjo Blazic died of leukaemia) they made excellent album which will be all featured on this blog.This is their first album,and my favourite one.So I recommend this to the Hard Rock lovers as a MUST!!

POMARANCA (Slo) - Peklenska pomaranca (Heavy Metal Shock) , lp 1981

This is the first album by Pomaranca (the band already featured here as ORANGE),the biggest Heavy Metal band ever from Slovenia.This album is,for my opinion much much better than the Orange one,so if you tried that one,then this one is a definitive must!Plus,it is singed in Slovenian.What more to say;grab it!!
