Here`s now a band I dislike sooo much,I was thinking why should I put them here,but well,I am not putting stuff here for me,but for you.And as,to my endless wonder,Bombarder are a "cult" band from the ex-Yu,here is one of their albums,as I understood the last one before they moved from Bosnia to Serbia.The album is Metal 100%,spanning from Heavy Metal to Speed/Thrash Metal,and the music,as simple as it can be,is even not that bad,how bad is the main vocalist in both ways-vocally and lyrically (incredibly ridicolous).Well,I won`t spend a word more for them,I know you are looking for this,so here it is..

GREENCAJG-VARAZDIN EXPRESS (Cro) - compilation cd 1999

When I came to live to Varazdin in 2002.,I didn`t knew not a single one band from this town,and actually the scene here was pretty poor (compared to the scene from the town where I came from,Pula).However,as you can see,not much before that,the scene in this town was crowded.Varazdin made what Pula did not,a CD with all the young underground bands which will represent the underground scene of Varazdin.I am glad I can put this CD here (first of all,as a request from my friend Slaven T.) and show that this town has the potential,and as it seems now,there are a lot of bands nowadays that proves that Varazdin IS the city of Music.
PS:The bands here are all featured LIVE,except for the last 5 tracks (18-22) which are remixes.

Continuing the fanzine scans,here is a Croatian one from 1994,precisely from Split.It was not a professionally made zine,but it is still a document of a time and a scene,as 90% of the zine is made of interviews with Croatian bands from the underground scene of that time,precisely bands from Pula and Pozega (Aeon,Hatross,Sprovod,Amen,D.Mortification,The Bleeding) plus an interview with the mighty Agathocles.It is completely written in croatian,so for the people from the exYu territory it will be fun,and for you others a collectible document of an era.

After these few Punk posts,let`s return to good old Thrash Metal,with this excellent slovenian band trom the end of the 80s.Their second demo (even this one is not exactly the master-copy) is a display of excellent Thrash.I saw them once in 1990 in Ljubljana supporting Atrophy and Sacred Reich,and I remember they were great,but the thing that confused us all is that they played only instrumental songs.Of course,I don`t know if those were instrumental versions of the songs featured here,but it was strange..

ARINKA I TINGL TANGL (Cro) - Na stanici za bus , lp 1981

The album here is rare to find,so here is the mp3,and the partial scan of the album cover.Tingl Tangl is the band of the Istrian Rock guru Franci Blaskovic,the band that preceeded his today`s band Gori Ussi Winnetou.Tingl Tangl was leaded by Franci`s wife Arinka,a music professor and an outstanding vocalist.The songs are some kind of Rock-circus parody,but very,very pleasant to listen.Here is the whole album in an excellent vinyl-rip (not done by me) plus two single songs,available only on single records.This is the only ATT album,they also had a number of singles mostly with tracks not available on this album.I saw that somebody searched this blog for this album,and I am very glad I can post it now,as it is an album I really love.

This band comes from Serbia,and this is their first demo from 1994.They play kinda Thrashcore-Deathcore,a very fast mix of styles,but very powerful,and with a touch of Hardcore too if you ask me.The band is still active,so this is to introduce you to their beginnings,and I almost forgot to mention that this demo is recorded under the name Punisher.Enjoy!

Let`s continue with Mel`s stuff sent to me.In 1991,just before the war,Sadismo (somewhere mispelled Sadizmo) and recorded this demo in December of 1991.The music here is more early Death Metal stuff with a lot of Thrash influences,on a very raw recording.All that remains of this band is this demo,and oh yeah,the bassist went to play in Bombarder after the split.

INDEXI (BiH) - Indexi , lp 1974

Another ex-Yu monumentally legendary band I adore,from Sarajevo,actually they made a part of my musical life,as Scorpions did..You know,when a band hooks you more than usually..I had my Indexi-time,and had the luck to see one of their shows,to meet them and to know them in person before Davorin (vocal) and Bodo (lead guitarist) died.
Indexi are actually a band that started in the 60s,much much before Bijelo Dugme,and even much before A.Skloniste or R.Corba.When Indexi started,they played kind of beat music as The Shadows or The Beatles did.Then they surprisingly turned their music to a pretty strong Progressive Rock,still with Pop Rock elements,but with very nice played parts,with the extremely talented rhythm section (and above it the bass player Fadil Redzic,older brother of Bijelo Dugme`s bassist Zoran Redzic!) and one of the best Balkan`s guitarists Slobodan Bodo Kovacevic.
This record represents the part of the carreer when they were at the peak of their success and creativity.You will not remain indifferent to tracks like Svijet U Kojem Zivim,or Da Sam Ja Netko,and above all maybe one of the most beautiful song ever written in the Yu-Rock history,Plima.
By the end of their carreer,as they got older,they played some Pop Rock tunes,still nice but not that powerful as the ones on this album.
Dedicated to both Davorin and Bodo. R.I.P.

..and the same song 20 years later live in Sarajevo.

EMPHASIS (Cro) - Elements of morrow , demo 2008

I have heard about this band just recently,actually I saw them on the Grind Your Mind festival,and remained really stunned.They had a such mighty powerful sound,and even it is not the kind of music I listen to,they hooked me at once.It is a kinda Tool-Neurosis-Isis kind of music,I am really not into it and I am just telling you how others described me the band.
This demo is absolutely worth having it,and I hope this band have a bright future.

Well,count it as a joke-post..
In fact,this is one of the most popular "folk" bands in the ex-Yugoslavia,but actually they were the parody of folk music.Their first lp contains probably their biggest hits,and RSM were known as cult entertainers mixing folk music with disco or reggae rhythms or playing folk music with absurdly ridiculous lyrics..until the tragic death of one of them (the deep voice on the album,the purple dressed guy with the radio).Then the band continued as a trio,but never gained success like before.
The tracks on this albums were also released on 5 singles,all of them containing two songs,which makes all ten tracks from it.
And I repeat,it is a joke-post,it is not even perfectly ripped from the vinyl,so take it on your own risk..

Another Mel`s golden post,one of the forgotten albums of the Yugoslavian Hard Rock.The band is active today under the name Kraljevski Apartman,this album is from their (ancient) beginnings,and it sounds just like that.But this is a great document of the ex-Yu Hard Rock scene.In a way,comparable with early Atomsko Skloniste,early Bijelo Dugme,early Riblja Corba,and the harder tracks by Yu-Grupa.For the collectors!

Now I am beginning a couple of very interesting and rare posts with stuff posted to me by my dear friend and contributor Mel from Germany,the guy who runs the Croatian Heavy Metal History website.
The first post concerns a band that existed for just a few years,and haven`t had a noticeable success,but gave to the Croatian pop scene an excellent singer,Giuliano.Well,as my friend Mel told me,it is strange how someone said that this is Heavy Metal..This may be a Poppy Hard Rock,but not Heavy Metal..Maybe,I can compare them with the serbian band Kerber..Anyway,if you like a totally melodic,almost mainstream Rock,this one`s for you.I know that many people of the ex-Yu territory will want to hear how Giuliano sounded as a rocker..

ANTITOPLES (Cro) - Rehearsal 2008

Allright,all-girl Punk band.Actually,those girls are active just a little more than a year,and they have already a good following and a cool amount of played gigs.I saw them accidentally the first time last year at the opening of the Varazdin`s Trash Film Festival,and they was a very pleasant surprise to me.Down here you have the video of a part of that first show,it was not perfectly played (not that anyone expected so) but it was immensely pretty.I saw them another time later,and the band is improving it`s skills,from gig to gig.This post comes as an announcement of their gig in Cakovec on September the 13th.On a Punk Rock festival,the Punk Chicks will have their performance playing alongside with KUD Idijoti (can`t wait for that!).And so,here is their first unofficial recordings,a rehearsal recorded on a dictaphone,not of great quality,very raw but enough to hear how they improved.Nice one,girls,see you on the show!!

TERMITI (Cro) - Vjeran pas , cd 2008

Here`s now a Croatian band that was one of the pioneers of Croatian/ex-Yugoslavian Punk Rock.Termiti are from Rijeka,the city that (with Pula,of course) was one of the most active city speaking of Punk bands.This is the album they should have released 20 years ago,but it came out just now,with 7 bonus live tracks.The original cd contains also multimedia stuff,not contained here.Let me just remind you that one of the members of this band were Mrle from LET 3,and that Termiti were part of the beautiful Novi Punk Val 78-80 compilation lp with three songs.They re-united recently for some live shows.

Finally!! There passed a long time since we had those maniacs here!!Now,I have the privilege to be the first to offer you this insane product of total rakija-fueled Grindcore.
I met the guys personally recently at the Grind Your Mind festival in Varazdin,and as persons you cannot imagine how great and pleasant are those guys,but as band..I admit,I haven`t seen such an amount of audio-brutality with an exciting stage show EVER!!A band that instantly became one of my top 5 Croatian bands.This promo cd was promised to me that day,as soon as it came from the masterisation in Czech Rep.,and I really thank the band for sending me it at once.
I hope I will see them live again very soon,and they will soon play in Vienna 2 times,so if you are able,go and see this ultrainsane Grindcore display of brutality.Oh yes,I forgot,and try Zoran`s excellent Rakija (grape brandy),winner of silver medal on a Rakija contest (believe me,it deserves pure gold!!).

ROCK GODDESS (U.K.) - Rock goddess , lp 1983

Now,to finish this "female celebration day",the best female Metal album I have ever heard (with Girlschool`s Hit And Run,of course).Those three beauties up here (I have to be very careful with calling them beauties,as the guitarist/vocalist Jody Turner was 17,and her sister,the drummer Julie Turner at the time of recording this album was only 12 years old!!!)(and the drums,very rhytmical and strong,are IMO the best part of this album!) recorded this debut album under the production of Vic Maile (Motorhead,Girlschool...oooops,same story??No way this time.),and at the time I heard it for the first time (back in 83) it was one of the best Metal albums of the moment!You have to try it,if you like Metal melodic and raw,but very very strong.Oh yeah,I almost forgot:the last two tracks are not featured on the original vinyl release.I recommend especially tracks 6-11..fucking great!!
PS:The first vid here is for the track My Angel,and the bass here is played by Kelly Johnson of Girlschool (instead of Tracy Lamb,who played the album!).
