What can be said, this is a blog where I will post some stuff I really like,so I think you should like it too.I am a metalhead to the heart, but I will put here every kind of stuff I like, not only Metal.I hope you will enjoy it,and let me know if there is anything needed, especially from the ex-Yugoslavia territory.
Cheers!
I have been searching for this a long time, and Florijan helped me out;this was a very talented and funny and interesting band from Zagreb from the first half of the 90s,I knew them,we even played few times together. The bands name is two languages, because the band`s name was written every time different, some times in Croatian, others in English. It was a powerful HeavyFunky trio, known in Croatia first of all for the extremely funny Funky version of Metallica`s "Enter sandman",of which I ripped the video down here. The first two tracks are from 1992,while the third found place on a compilation cd related to the Croatian Lunatic fanzine from 1996.I am proud to bring you (thanx Floki) these three tracks. The guitar virtuoso Kizo (real name Zoran Stojanovic) released last year his solo album Brutalizer, can`t wait to hear what he did on that.Meanwhile..
Tracks: 01.Mr. Begin` man 02.Enter sandman 03.Baloony
Allright, now something different, not an audio or video post,I bring you here the scan of an American Speed/Thrash Metal fanzine from the end of 1984.The fanzine was entitled Brain damage, and it is totally old-school designed, typewriting and handwritten logos and pentagrams and upsidedown crosses and similiar stuff to get you back in the beginnings of the most exciting Metal genre ever. The editors were Vadim Rubin (later in Halfoff and HayWire) and a certain Ron Nieto. The writer was, among others,a certain Gene Hoglan (don`t ask me where he played later,please..) and his wife Lisa draw the logo.20 pages,3,5 MB! I am sure you will be all interested in this one,you can find recensions of early Destruction,Death Angel, VoiVod,Omen,Slayer,Celtic Frost,Overkill,Dark Angel, jag Panzer,Mercyful Fate,Mantas (pre-Death),Enforcer and Znowhite, read an interview with Hirax and read how disappointed the metalheads were when Metallica`s Ride The Lightning was released (good for them they were timely soooo far from Load and Reload....)... For all the old-school lovers (like me!)!Enjoy this one,I have also the issue 2,so wait for it soon. And let me know what you think of it!!
Another contribution by Florijan.Headbanger`s legendary EP from the Pula scene of the first half of the 90s,reminds me of the progress the band had back in time, after they mutated into Super Booster (Nade and Hamer),and Rale passed to play in Gardenia.A nice EP,I tagged Heavy Metal, but as they are very much influenced by Motorhead, get this as a Fast Rock`n`Roll Heavy Metal Motorheadesque stuff..Come on,you know what I mean..Really worth a try! PS:The video down here is a video from the very beginning of Headbanger and surely does not represent what they played on this EP.
Tracks: 01.Wheels of freedom 02.Neglect 03.Out of sight
The second album of the Swiss Thrash masters was,in my opinion,a half disappointment. Not that huge,of course, but even today,21 years later,I don`t understand why they recorded the studio side with that ultra weak guitar sound..And as for the lyrics..My opinion is that the studio side should have been re-recorded.But the B-side of the album brings us some very raw LIVE recordings of Messiah, that are worth not only the whole record, but if you ask me,THEIR WHOLE DISCOGRAPHY!!Messiah live were one of the most extreme bands on the planet (back in the 80s),and these live recordings shows it.And I am repeating it again;I am lucky I had the opportunity to see them live in this line-up back in..can`t remember,`87 or `88..but I realised how good they are live. And on this album the B-side brings you Messiah live,so you can hear it yourself..As this is the CD re-re-re-release (this album was initially released on CD together with Hymn To Abramelin, but was an utterly ugly release;HTA was there without the wise words between songs, and ECW without the LIVE SIDE!!!),which includes some demos and additional live recordings..but at least ECW is complete with the great live side.Worth downloading for the live and demo stuff!
Tracks: STUDIO SIDE 01.Extreme cold weather 02.Enjoy yourself 03.Johannes Paul der letzte (Dedicated in hate to Pope John Paul II) 04.Mother Theresa (Dedicated in love to Mother Theresa) 05.Hyper borea 06.Radetzky march (We hate to be in the army now) 07.Nero LIVE SIDE 08.Hymn to Abramelin+Messiah+Space invaders 09.Thrashing madness 10.The last inferno 11.Golden dawn 12.Resurrection 13.Ole` perversus DEMO AND LIVE ADDITIONS 14.Powerthrash 15.Satan`s resurrection 16.Antichrist 17.Hymn to Abramelin 18.Messiah 19.Infernal forces 20.Future agressor+Total maniac (live)
Those girls were from Karlovac, and they played a very interesting and good HC/Punk.I found this demo very accidentally, but remained pleasantly surprised. It is a pretty long demo with an excellent sound.Until yesterday I haven`t found any info about it,but now I have it;it is recorded in 1997 (I tought it was more recent..).The band split a while after for personal reasons, but thank God this demo remained, and here it is to be spreaded even wider. Now,the next step is to wait a demo from Antitoples from Cakovec..
Tracks: 01.Intro+Scheisse 02.Dosta dosta dosta 03.You want see me dead 04.Monkey 05.Pa sta 06.Sick mind 07.No name.. 08.Chicken muda 09.That`s all I know 10.Hate-No 11.Don`t watch TV because 12.I don`t care 13.H.L. 14.Bullet of pain 15.Genocide 16.Kill me again 17.That`s all I know (different version) 18.Outro
Heh,I finally found a recording of a record I once bought in Trieste,of a totally unknown american band, but released through Wild Rags Records,an indie metal label that has it`s peak in the last few years of the 80s.This record was a maxi 45 rpm vinyl, with these four tracks on both sides (??),a black simple cover, and an insert with the pic above and the lyrics of the songs. The band plays a fast Thrash Metal with a sound that should maybe have been a little more aggressive, but it is fair enough anyway. This is a rarity, grab it.
Tracks: 01.Wreckage+Bloodshed 02.The final solution 03.Feel my knife 04.Tear off your face
A nice rarity sent to me by Vladimir again! This is a soundboard recording of Verbal Abuse`s gig before the "V.A. Rocks Your Liver" album,an album that more than ever showed how metal and hardcore can really work together. On this recording,as you can see, they play We Will Rock You by Queen, with the original lyrics (for those who might not know, the song will have different lyrics on the mentioned album, and will be entitled,of course,V.A. Rocks Your Liver).Enjoy this one.
Tracks: 01.We will rock you 02.Metal Melissa the pissa 03.Leeches+Worth a try 04.Time to go 05.Disintegration 06.I don`t need it 07.Best friends 08.no title 09.I hate you 10.Bud
Here we go again,Bosko I Buhe from Pula were a request by few of you,and Vladimir helped me out with this, and sent me a demo and two live recordings. This is a soundboard of their performance at the Melody Festival in Pula 1992.Unfortunately,no pic and no video for them.Very funny and Punk-as-fuck.
Darkthrone at their very beginnings. This is their first demo, very raw and obscure, and of course far away (technically) from what Darkthrone became later. But,of course, always interesting. The recording is not of the best, but obviously it is the original that is recorded bad.Two more demos will follow, but let`s start off with the first one. PS:Notice that every song title contains the "OF" in the title (ie, "this OF that")!! PPS:The video is a very funny Fenriz, check it out.
Tracks; 01.Land of frost 02.Wings of Triton 03.Forest of darkness 04.Odyssey of freedom 05.Death of the dead
First of all,I am sorry I don`t have no flyer or no pic from the A&M Festival featured here (the flyer above is for the first A&M Festival from 1993,for which I can proudly say that my ex-band Hatross was the first band ever to perform at A&M Festival!!).But as I think that the sound is important, here is the official cd of the well-known Art And Music Festival, held in Pula every year since 1993,with few years of pause from 2002.-2005. This CD here is the idea the guys from the organisation had,but it was realised just that year and never more.Anyway,a great document remained, and as a direct partecipant as part of the staff of the festival for few years, and as presenter in 1997,I am proud to present you this cd. The 1994. edition of the festival brings you a wide variety of styles, all of them alternative rock (I wrote down as tag Alternative Rock,as a common tag) and all of them excellent soundboard LIVE RECORDINGS!! The recordings were taken live at the festival, with bands as The Bleeding playing Doom,Haze playing Stoner Rock,Dik O`Braz playing a Motorhead-ish tune,a great Rt Planete (featuring Zhel on guitar and vocals!!),and among other bands, extremely exciting guests of the festival as KUD Idijoti and Gori Ussi Winnetou,Strelnikoff,Laufer and Let 3. This CD is very important for me emotively, but I assure you that you will find very interesting stuff here, and you will have the document of a great happening!!Don`t miss this one. PS:Down here you have the documentary of that festival splitted in two parts,it is in Croatian from the Croatian TV,and I saw myself in few places (in the first minute of the first part, you can see me in a black Type O Negative t-shirt with Tusta from KUD Idijoti)!!

What can I tell..I am maybe rusting away, and Metal is going further complicated to the bone, every day more and more. And I am glad this post is coming after that Propaganda Hardcore 83 album, you know what I mean..But this band is excellent. In everything;production, execution, complication..This is one of the most complicated Death Metal albums I have ever heard, but as that not boring. The drummer is a fucking beast.Enjoy!
Tracks: 01.Intro 02.Meidan maa 03.Elaman vihollinen 04.Syyttomien veri 05.Kuolleet 06.Rakkaudesta sotaan 07.Panssarikolonna 08.Sisu sinivalkoinen 09.Sotajumala 10.Vanki 11.Pommitus
Now,we are talking about a legend! In Pula known as "the green record",this is an album that learned me and few fellows around me (later known as Leukkemiaa) that you actually don`t need a knowledge in playing any instrument to play in a band!!And this record lifted Finnish Hardcore Punk to immensity, because, let`s be honest, some of the bands featured here really, but really shouldn`t ever got instruments in their hands-but only if we talk of perfection! If we talk about being spontanius and playing your anger out, then every single band here is immense! This is an excellent vinyl-rip,and believe me,if you like Hardcore Punk and are fan of freedom of expression, then you will never stop listening to this record..Definitely one of my favourite compilations of all the times. PS:The last band is probably added for the cd-version,and it is not featured on the vinyl-the vinil lasts concluding with Varaus.

Definitely,at least with this first album, the best band Croatia ever had since the independence (so,count from 1990.).Laufer were from Rijeka and came out more or less with the Grunge invasion, and very soon, they became on of the best bands in Croatia.Don`t get me by the word,Laufer are not completely Grunge, but if I have to put them into a style, then I would choose Grunge, not just because they appeared along with, but because a strong guitaristic expression by their guitarist Vava.I saw them live several times, they were incredibly explosive.Last year they reunited for a few shows, but that sucked, there were no magic that once was,and the vocalist Urban claimed that they reunited just to make some money on the old name (sic). However,Laufer are authors of the most beautiful Croatian ballad ever, the song Budi Moja Voda (even if Vava himself admitted that it has a little something from Always Somewhere by Scorpions...).An excellent album.
Tracks: 01.Svijet za nas 02.Ljubav kao heroin 03.Funkomatic 04.Lopov Jack 05.Sve je laz 06.Znam,znam,znam 07.Budi moja voda 08.Jedini sto zna 09.Izmedju neba i mora 10.Wild thing
Ok,finally,we came to the end of the story of the REAL Atomsko Skloniste (I read somewhere that AS died when the vocalist Sergio died, which is partly true). After this album-and I am talking about their Yugoslavian releases-the band splitted and only the bassist Bruno continued under the same name, but we all knew+felt that it is not THAT anymore (AS recorded a nice album after that, but that is another story).I repeat,I decided to put on this blog their complete discography as a hommage to one of the greatest Hard Rock bands Yugoslavia ever had. Sergio Blazic died just few months after the completion of the recording.
Tracks: 01.Njezan i mlad 02.Trazila je lice ljubavi 03.Jutro 04.Tvoj princ 05.Moja ljubavi 06.Ljubomora 07.Slatki snovi 08.Jucerasnje sutra 09.Kineska stolica
Well, here it is,an album pretty hard to find, and in it`s second version, for which I admit I didn`t knew it exists (I have the first version from 1983 with different songs on vinyl, and I have never heard about a second version-I hope I`ll get a grammophone very soon,so I can rip all the vinyls I want to put here!!).Anyway,Warriors are a very melodic Heavy Metal band born on the ashes of Gordi (bassist Slobodan Svrdlan) and as a side project of Riblja Corba`s drummer Vicko Milatovic. In the final,Vicko was missing so the band completed the line up and released a Maxi Single and an album, and tried their luck in Canada, from where is the guitarist Douglas Platt. As far as I remember, they did nothing, and splitted a year later.I am so sorry just for Slobodan Svrdlan, because he was one of the best Bassists in Yugoslavia..Enjoy this one.
Tracks: 01.Try again 02.You keep on shining 03.Diana 04.I`m begging you 05.Light it up 06.God save the children 07.Flight of the children 08.Money lover 09.Carry on
Well, finally,I rushed myself to fix this recording..A huge request;this Grindcore band from Pula is requested by many, and I have this recording took on the Destroy The Melody Festival 1 which took place on the 14th of April 1994,and featured among all Pulska Garez,Desinence Mortification,Bambix,Leukkemiaa,Brijacina Kojona..I remember it as an actually great gig done with zero money, just the good will of the local scene, and the blessing of the Rock Club Uljanik`s leader Bato Prastalo.Few months later a second edition (and unfortunately the last) of that festival took place and featured Hatross,Aeon,Desinence Mortification,Leukkemiaa,Business World, and an ad-hoc band who lasted exactly as long as the gig did (cca 5 minutes),featuring me on the drums. But let me return to PG.PG is also a band who didn`t lasted long, but left a trace for giving a name to the scene of Pula of that time (Pulska Garez,Desinence Mortification,Leukkemiaa,Brijacina Kojona,Lizatori Pizdere,Fonja...),and that was Totalna Perverzija (Total Perversion). This one is a soundboard recording, and that means a very good recording...yeah! PS:And the video! You can see me announcing the band at the beginning of part 1!
Tracks; 01.Totalna perverzija 02.Pajser 03.Pun mi je kurac ovog grada 04.Moja prva ljubav 05.MTV 06.Fonja 07.Joint 08.Rasturacina zvuka 09.Jebanje krava uzivo 10.Pajser
Heh..Pula strikes again..Two utterly extreme bands from the town with most talented musicians in Croatia. What we have here is the split-cd of the veterans Bolesno Grinje and a more-or-less new Grindcore sensation from Pula,Mercenary Cockroach.I am so proud I can present this CD which can compete with any other cd and any other band from the world, showing that we-in Croatia-have really what to show and share, and that goes especially for Pula,in our own country known as "eternal perifery".
Tracks:
BOLESNO GRINJE 01.Grinjofobija 02.Dajem otkaz 03.Moj prijatelj zombi 04.P.T.S.P. 05.Zemlja zove grinje 06.Nema me (Pojeo sam se) 07.Mamu im 08.Odmor 2 metra pod zemljom 09.Nervoza

This was one of the most violent records I have ever heard (with Kreator`s Pleasure To Kill) back in 1986.The band was previously called Samhain and released this record with the name of Satan`s gift (and another cover),but then Noise decided they have to change the name, and also the title and the cover of the album. It sucks, but however Deathrow recorded a beautiful album,an incredible barrage of ultraheavy riffs. This is still my Deathrow`s favourite album, and another prove that for me the German Speed/Thrash of 1984-1987 was the best and most exciting metal ever.
Tracks: 01.Winds of death 02.Satan`s gift 03.Riders of doom 04.Hell`s ascent 05.Spider attack 06.Slaughtered 07.Violent omen 08.Dark tales 09.Samhain

I am sorry I don`t have nothing about this band, along with Problemi fundamental for the history of Punk and Rock in general in Pula.Anyway, here are their first two demos from 1978,pretty good sounding recordings. So,for fans of ex-Yu music, and for all those interested in the beginnings of Punk in the ex-Yugoslavia,I am proud to present you this band from Pula:GOLA JAJA!
