Classic Heavy/Hard from Croatia.This is a band that lasted pretty long,but never becoming popular or 1st league band,I can say that their records were hard to find,so there is nothing to say except that this album is their first,and it is good stuff for all the old Hard/Heavy Metal fans.And of course for all collectors of ex-Yu bands.

MDC are one of the longest lasting Hardcore bands in the world.I had the luck to manage a gig in Pula for them back in 1994,it was a total blast,the place was fully packed and the crowd was crazy,there were people jumping off the PA,even the band asked them to stop because they might get hurt..anyway,this is one of the compilations that shows the 20 years of the band`s carreer,and we`re talking of year 2000,they had another European tour this year that ended few months ago.So,there`ll be more MDC,but this one is for all those who missed MDC in the last 27 years..

Oh,no,not again..well,yes,them again.Excuse me for this introduction,these are words I can`t stop..you know this one is a request by some of you asking for old ex-Yu Metal and,whether we like it or not,Demoniac are part of it too..I admit that I haven`t heard a worst band (and by this I don`t mean bands whose intention is TO BE BAD),and Demoniac got even worse on this album.If I told that the demo is something worst I have ever heard,here they are to make it even worse.It is Speed Metal,it is a good production,but it is also Demoniac,a band that simply wasn`t meant to be Metal.So this one is by all means for you,for me it is definitely NOT.A request.

Another live recording by one of my bands formerly called Antitodor I Talenti,later shortened only to Talenti.This live performance was as support band to Battalions Of Saints AD.I don`t really have to say nothing special about it,just that it is a good soundboard recording and a fact that was pretty weird.We were told that we will not be able to play on BOS AD equipment,so we put our instruments in a line in front of their equipment (like NoMeansNo do,got it?),I (drums) was on the left of the guitarist,and had no monitoring at all.Anyway,a pretty good performance.

DISCIPLINA KICME (Ser) - Svi za mnom , lp 1986

As I probably already said,Disciplina Kicme was for my opinion one of the best Yugoslav bands ever.They were special,there was no band as DK in the world,with its specifical neurotic/psycothic music made of drum,Koja`s Rickenbacker bass and trumpets.This one is probably their best and most genuine album (the 3rd) with an excellent production,a bass sound that makes you shiver an a blend of music you never heard,but it will blow you away,if you are musically open minded enough.The pic was taken by me on January 1990 on a gig in Pula,where my Devastation was there as support band to Disciplina Kicme.Unforgettable.

Allright,again sorry for not having any pic of this band,even they did some photosessions I remember,as soon as I get my hands on those pics,it will be posted.A strongly Alice In Chains/Stone Temple Pilots influenced band from Pula (of course),made by excellent musicians played at the Art And Music Festival competition in 1996,and not only that;they won it.So,what you have here are both the selection evening (18.05.) and the final,winning evening (19.05.) shows.I was there both days,and I must tell you that they were very impressive..try it.A good soundboard recording.

This is a band from Zagreb,and for what I know,they split-up few years ago.Which is such a pity,because this album can easily stand shoulder by shoulder with a lot of modern Metal albums worldwide.I like the vocal,reminds me somehow of Phil Anselmos.And the production is absolutely perfect.Gotta have it.

IMPALED NORTHERN MOONFOREST (USA) - Impaled Northern Moonforest , call-it-demo 1997

Buahahahhahahaha..WTF??Well,you probably have heard about this "thing"..I discovered that this project is a product of Anal Cunt`s Seth Putnam and Josh Martin.This is their so-called-demo,later released as a 7 inch single by Menace To Sobriety records.The aim was to ridiculise Black Metal,and boy they did it big time!!!It was called Acoustic Black Metal,with Josh playing the acoustic guitar and Seth drumming on his knees and bed.I decided not to write the titles of the songs contained here,because it is so ridicolous that I think it is a waste of time.Anyway,this download contains also a song titles generator,with TXT files with all the words needed to create beautiful black metal songtitles,well known from Immortal and bands like that.Try it,at least just for fun.

ATOMSKO SKLONISTE (Cro) - Infarkt , lp 1978

The second album from the Pula`s Hard Rock band Atomsko Skloniste is Hard as the 1st one,with which they showed that they won`t mellow out as Bijelo Dugme did.Until the last album with the vocalist Sergio Blazic,AS were a pure Hard Rock band,with few ballads or easy songs here and there,but basically a stubborn Hard Rock act.This is a great album.

PS;Oh,yeah,I forgot to say;Atomsko Skloniste had few extravagant album covers;this one (the vinyl,right?) was all done in carton (hard paper),and it looked like this;

The autograph you see is the drummer`s Sasa Dadic.And this package also contained a nice album of band`s artistic pictures by the photographer Tone Stojko.

ATOMSKO SKLONISTE - INFARKT , lp 1978

NOVI PUNK VAL ´78-´80 , ex-YU Punk-Rock compilation lp 1981

A cult record.The best of the best of Slovenian and Croatian (I noticed just recently that there were no Serbian or Bosnian bands here ?!?!No,seriously,to make this record an auditive orgasm there were no Pekinska Patka on!!) Punk Rock 1978-1980,which means that the ex-Yugoslavia was,even if a Communist country,very VERY in trend.I really cannot say my favourites here (even if I must say that the Croatian part of the compilation P.Kazaliste-Paraf-Problemi-Termiti is evidently much much better,and especially my guys from Pula,PROBLEMI.),but I am surely positive that,no matter what you listen to,you will find great tunes here.A MUST!!

PS;I would like to dedicate this post to Denis Barlijan,a member of the Punk community of the Pula scene in the 70s-80s,who died of cancer a month ago.R.I.P.

LJUBLJANA HARD-CORE , Slovenian compilation lp 1987

This album is a jewel of the extinct ex-YU HC capital of the 80s,LJubljana,the capital town of Slovenia.5 bands are represented on this compilation,of which my favourites are the female trio TOZIBABE with a pretty harsh HC,and especially EPIDEMIJA,a total Disorder-esque Thrash chaos.As I didn`t ripped this one,I warn you that it have a variable sound quality,it seems like it was ripped partly from tape,and partly from vinyl.Anyway,for the collectors,and especially for HC fans,you will not miss this one!
