Now, something for those who like something different, something to sit and listen, but so exciting to make your blood runs faster.Inspired by old masters as Nick Drake and Tom Buckley, Zhel (from Pula, of course) made this very intimate and obscure record which instantly became cult, first in our city and then much much wider. I cannot miss to say that the ballad "It`s going to get you" is one of my all times favourite, and not only for the ex-yu territory !! Recommended to persons with wider views on music.
Here` some more stuff from this serbian melodic Punk Rock band, I really don`t know much about them, but I got a shitload of this band stuff from my contributor Vladimir from Pula, and by the posts I already posted I noticed that you like this band, so let`s continue with their stuff. This is a soundboard recording of a live performance dated 1993. This band is Punk Rock, as I told, but they hang a very lot to the rock side of it, you can see it by the cover they play, the Jimi`s Purple Haze. Enjoy!
The album you see here is almost a rarity today. It is the very first album of the band known today as GUSTAFI, and playing today a completely different music.The music featured on this album dated 1985 can be described as "the most alternative Talking Heads stuff". The production is an excellent work by Ekatarina Velika`s leader Milan Mladenovic.As this album was never released on cd, this one is a great vinyl rip.

As you can read in the backcover, this cassette is released in only 200 copies, so it makes an ultrarare item.Luckily, the work around the movie about the underground music in PULA in the 70s and 80s saved somehow all these pearls from disappearance. This is a compilation of Istrian rock bands released by the slovenian small label "Slovenija" from Koper, a small beautiful city at the top of the Istrian peninsula`s southwestern shores.Here are featured 4 band (of which I know only 2).The first one is CASTEL, I don`t know anything about them, they play some new romantic stuff, very nice.KUD IDIJOTI is a band you already know, and this stuff is taken from their 1986 demo you already know too.The next band is H.T.B. and I don`t know nothing about them, except the fact that their bassist later became a member of The Spoons from Pula.Nice rock.The last band SUMSKI PJEVACI GORTANOVE UVALE is probably the most interesting of those four bands, with an extremely interesting melodical palette and two milestone musicians of the scene of Pula, Goran Curic-Cotka and Sandro Perocevic (incidentally, engineers and producers of my band`s Hatross demo from 1992, and Cotka also of the one from 1996, and soon of the new Devastation material - this is a scoop!!). All in all, a nice compilation for all those who wonders about some Istrian bands that were not that exposed at that time..

This is a nice promo cd, I got it from the radio station where I worked in the 90s.This is the compilation of a festival held in Litija, Slovenia, and lasted few years.There was a bunch of Garage Rock, Classic Rock and Punk Rock bands, a festival that completely negated Metal as music, thanx to the art director and founder of the festival, a person I won`t even mention, but you can hear on the introduction track 1 on the cd.This cd is, as written, not for sale, so I give it to you for free.

Now another request I had here, this is a Croatian band that was active at the end of the 80s/first few years of the 90s, and was part of the Slusaj Najglasnije production roster. Incidentally, other bands from the same label had more success, so here is this album grabbed from the past.The music is a kind of alternative Punk/HC/New Wave Garage Rock (now I told you all, right?) , however very loud and aggressive.

Primus were one of the most exciting Funk-Metal (if it is possible to call this way the music they play) of the 90s, being a band with immense musicianship and incredible skills, and this of course goes especially for the probably one of the best bassists on the world, Les Claypool.This one is their performance on a campus radio station in Stanford University, Stanford CA.Needless to say, sublime performance of the early Primus here, just in the year of their first album "Suck on this".And although this is a low 64kbps rip, it is a very good sounding recording.So enjoy. Another nice album from the Istrian Rock guru Franci Blaskovic, actually it`s a compilation of songs from the first 4-5 albums composed by Franci, but with lyrics (or shall I say poetry?) from one of the biggest Istrian journalists, radio-presenter (and director of Radio Pula), Budimir Zizovic-Zizo.So if you have the mentioned albums, you can add this one if you collect all releases from GUW.A very very nice album.

First of all,I am sorry I don`t have no flyer or no pic from the A&M Festival featured here (the flyer above is for the first A&M Festival from 1993,for which I can proudly say that my ex-band Hatross was the first band ever to perform at A&M Festival!!).But as I think that the sound is important,here is the official cd of the well-known Art And Music Festival,held in Pula every year since 1993,with few years of pause from 2002.-2005. This CD here is the idea the guys from the organisation had,but it was realised just that year and never more.Anyway,a great document remained,and as a direct partecipant as part of the staff of the festival for few years,and as presenter in 1997,I am proud to present you this cd. The 1994. edition of the festival brings you a wide variety of styles,all of them alternative rock (I wrote down as tag Alternative Rock,as a common tag) and all of them excellent soundboard LIVE RECORDINGS!! The recordings were taken live at the festival,with bands as The Bleeding playing Doom,Haze playing Stoner Rock,Dik O`Braz playing a Motorhead-ish tune,a great Rt Planete (featuring Zhel on guitar and vocals!!),and among other bands,extremely exciting guests of the festival as KUD Idijoti and Gori Ussi Winnetou,Strelnikoff,Laufer and Let 3. This CD is very important for me emotively,but I assure you that you will find very interesting stuff here,and you will have the document of a great happening!!Don`t miss this one. PS:Down here you have the documentary of that festival splitted in two parts,it is in Croatian from the Croatian TV,and I saw myself in few places (in the first minute of the first part,you can see me in a black Type O Negative t-shirt with Tusta from KUD Idijoti)!!

Franci Blaskovic is undoubtely the most interesting character of the Croatian underground scene.Playing from the 60s in various bands,having his first recording with the weird Arinka I Tingl Tangl band,and finally going strong with his Gori Ussi Winnetou band/project since 1986 (or at least recording since 1986.).Vocalist and bass guitar player.A guy that never ever wanted to be mainstream,a guy that refuse to play live in Pula (there were the art director of the rock club Uljanik in pula that denied the gig in the club for GUW,and Franci ever since never played a show in Pula.),a guy called "the Istrian Frank Zappa",a guy that few days ago released his 50th album (??!!)(and the last 40 albums all self-released in 4-5 years!!)..I could tell you about him all day long,I know him personally,and more or less worked with him (in the club Uljanik) few years in the 90s..but let`s return to this tape.This is his cult first album as GUW,very significant for the Istrian area,a mix-up of various styles all thrown into a cabaret-style of composing,all talking about the life in Pula and all in a language that he invented,a mix-of istrian-italian-german-englishlanguage with just a little Croatian...It is not the usual stuff I put here,but it is very significant in the Croatian underground.Well,Istrian underground..

This is a track I really loved, I was given this unedited single-vinyl by Zeljko (ZHEL). This is a beautiful song, I am sure Zhel won`t have nothing against if I put this track here. Zhel made some more interesting albums, which will be posted here in the future.Enjoy this one.
