Ohhhhhhh yesssssss!! Finally!! Many of you asked me to upload this EP, and I found just now a vinyl-rip I did 4-5 years ago..I bought this EP by mail in 1988, and of course expected some hard grinding and blasting. When it arrived to me, I was very surprised by the content, but in the same time very amused by this EP. It lasts 3 minutes sharp but it is a load of fun and distortion (especially distortion!). My warm recommendation!!! Eat my yellow banana, hahaha!!!
One of the first underground records/albums coming out from the rich Pula Punk scene.Both bands are already featured on this blog, so I will only repeat that Fakofbolan (aka FOB) plays some strong street Punk, and Dark Busters are easily comparable with NoMeansNo.One interesting fact: the cover of the vinyl is intentionally made half centimeter bigger, so it is easily noticeable among other records in your collection.Clever move.This is a great vinyl rip.
Wow, this is tough..I already told you about Strelnikoff, this Slovenian band was an extremely exciting act in the 90s, I had the opportunity to see them live a lot of times, and believe me, it was pure adrenalin!!This Punk/Hardcore played with a loud rhythm-machine was praised by Jello Biafra himself, a nice acknowledgement.And if I am not wrong, this was also requested, so enjoy this piece of madness!!
This is one of the rare bands I still don`t know how their name spells..However,Sake are from Pula,formed in 2001 by the guitarist Semijan who is one of the founder members of a historical 70s Punk Rock bands from Pula,Gola Jaja.In the band today plays also Mico from The Swindle,and Elizabeta,former Devastation guitarist (in 1988).Elizabeta is not featured in this demo,here sings Ivana.
The legendary Istrian master Franci Blaskovic,here,again.I found this on the net,a perfect soundboard live recording.With this recording you can realise how wild and energic are the performances of GUW and Franci.Punk Rock and Alternative Rock at its best.This one is surely not to miss if you are a fan of ex-Yu rock,even more if you are fan of Franci.Enjoy!!
After Gruuthaagy,I decided to celebrate this day as day of noise and distortion,and add another post.This time is the very interesting and funny,but headache-bringing distortion-all-over one man band (again!) Rancid Hell Spawn.I posted already one album by RHS (Jumpin` Jack Flesh),so if you liked it,of course it is absolutely a must to have also this one.So,get ready for another dose of Punky distortion!!!And I am sure you will fall in love with the distorted hillbilly punk A Trip To The Worm Farm!!
This is a nice Ep of a very young band made of 2 girls and a guy.They claim they play Punk Rock,if you ask me I wouldn`t go that far,there is a Punk Rock energy in this stuff,but it is not pure Punk Rock,even if I am gonna classify it as that.Anyway for a band in their years and at the beginning,very good stuff indeed.
Yeah,this was an incredible combination,the weirdness of Franci Blaskovic and the Punk energy of Croatia`s finest KUD Idijoti.This CD is really a great Punk Rock stuff,and I am putting it here to celebrate Franci as the Istrian musical guru`,which without the slightest problem said literally "FUCK OFF" to the Zlatna Koogla (an organisation which gives awards for musical achievements every year) as they wanted to give him an award for his life achievements in music.This guy simply rules.Enjoy this one.
I am sorry that I don`t have a quality pic of the cover,but..anyway,I am presenting you this amazing bizarre band lead by the editor of the now defunct Chainsaw fanzine,vocalist and bass player Charlie Chainsaw.This is a unique band,and I have to tell you how I bumped into this band:
What you have here is probably the best compilation ever from the ex-Yugoslavia,even if it contains just three bands.This one is a cult-record and the one that signed the zenith of Yugoslavian New Wave.All bands have a Punkish sound,but every one in his own way.There are also strange moments,as the VIS IDOLI song "Amerika" on which in 8 minutes and 12 seconds there goes repeatedly only one musical phrase and a voice repeating "And I say;Ah,where is America?"..Or one of the most known song of the Yugoslav alternative music,the SARLO AKROBATA ska-punk miniature "Niko kao ja"...Or one of the best Yugoslav Punk songs ever,the ELEKTRICNI ORGAZAM`s "Zlatni papagaj"..The tracklist on the record varies from this one,here the bands are grouped,on the vinyl the songs are in random way.If anyone wishes the right tracklist,just send me a message.Of course,highly recommended!
I don`t know what picture to put for this recording,as I don`t have not even one Anti Otpad picture,I used Jule for the previous post,what now?So I used a picture of the band Talenti,where the Anti Otpad vocalist Beli sang ONE gig,but about it next time.Now about this one.I remember,it was freezing outside,Christmas eve,and it was a show played on the main square in Pula,an open air festival of demo bands.I mean OPEN AIR IN DECEMBER!!!And I remember that Jule was in shorts and T-shirt (!!) and beli had a devil red costume.Well,anyway,this one was one of the most memorable Anti Otpad show visually,as musically they played only covers of Hali Gali Halid and Satan Panonski.I recommend this one for the Anti Otpad die-hard fans.
The Hali Gali Halid demo (which,by the way,I found on the net that it is recorded in 1989,and then again in 1991,and not in 1988,but well,take the date you like,the important is the music in here!!) is a demo that will be fully appreciated by those who know the "music" from the ex-Yugoslavia.This is a mixture of Yugoslavian folk music and punk/alternative,and this is an extremely fun but powerful recording.I`ve just read that HGH (aka Goran Bare,vocalist of the Croatian garage rock band MAJKE,and btw player of ALL instruments on this recording!) recorded this demo literally for 2 grams of heroin.Fuck that attitude,but I invite you to listen to the great music from Hali Gali Halid.And one more thing;Hali Gali Halid released an EP in 1991 called VO-ZDRA.
